Episode 2. Sary: gastronomy and the sea

Sary Falcón Medina started more than 26 years ago in the hotel business and 4 years ago she fulfilled one of her dreams, which was to open her own restaurant next to El Puertillo Beach. A native of the neighbourhood of La Goleta, Sary has always been a fighter. Mother of 4 children, today she devotes her time to working in her establishment and taking care of her parents and grandchildren. An example of perseverance and success, which she shares with her employees and customers every day.

Sary is an example of constant determination, an entrepreneur who found in the hotel industry a sector where she could feel fulfilled and share her work with others.

People used to say that I was crazy, that I would have to make a huge investment to set up my restaurant. I didn't care, the only thing I wanted was to open it. I wanted to feel the pleasure of being here working, to go out on to the terrace, take a deep breath and say: ‘My God, I can breathe the sea, I can breathe the water’.

When we make the ‘pella de gofio/gofio roll’ (Gofio paste formed into a round tube or elongated dumpling and then cut into slices) for the Sancocho Canario (traditional boiled salt fish dish), we add a drop of Carta de Oro rum, honey rum and also banana rum, so we then have three products from Arucas.

El Dorado del Norte has become a gastronomic point of reference on the coast of Arucas, next to El Puertillo Beach and very close to the Natural Pools of Los Charcones, which have been awarded the Blue Flag seal of quality in the area for years. A place where you enjoy the gastronomy and the sea.

We wish Sary and the team of El Dorado del Norte, in El Puertillo, all the luck in the world so that they can continue to be happy, to make their customers happy and to highlight the importance of the coast of Arucas in the gastronomy of Gran Canaria.
